Our Story

Welcome to the Springfield Gardens Muslim Center Inc. (SGMCI). Our journey began in 2020, during a time when the world was grappling with the devastating effects of the pandemic. In these challenging times, community and faith became more important than ever. Recognizing the need for a safe and inclusive space where people could come together to pray and worship, we set out to establish a place that would serve as a beacon of hope and unity.

In those early days, our prayer space was born in the humble confines of a brother's garage. Despite its modest size, it provided solace and comfort to a small group of five to eight individuals who sought solace in their faith. The garage served as a temporary refuge, a place where community bonds were forged, and spirits were uplifted. It became a testament to the resilience and determination of our community.

Over time, the news of our prayer space spread, and more individuals from the Springfield Gardens neighborhood joined our congregation. Our community began to flourish, and the need for a more permanent and accommodating space became evident. We envisioned a home for the Muslim community, a place where we could gather, worship, and engage in meaningful dialogue. It was time to embark on the next chapter of our journey.

After an extensive search, by the grace of Allah SWT and all your support, we have purchased a suitable space that meets our requirements on April 30th, 2024 and completed Phase 1 of this initiative. However, to further bring our vision to life, we need your support. The space is currently under renovation, and we need your help to build a men and women prayer space, wudu area, and exterior work on the property. While we have made significant progress, we still require an additional $100,000 to renovate and open the space to the community to offer daily prayers.
